***UPDATE***

Okay, so after way too many first dates I've concluded that online dating is more like a applying for a job than developing a relationship. What ever happened to the idea of just being friends and getting to know someone? Seems like every first date I've been on is more like a job interview. You will always find something about me that you don't like, but there's a lot more me than first impressions if you just take time to find out and get to know me. :-)


I know that goes both ways and I'm guilty of the same thing. I'm trying to be mindful of that.

I'm hoping to meet people and make friends, go out and have some fun. I'm talking about things like bowling, sailing, frisbee, bike rides, movies, live music, live theater, hiking, exploring DC and the surrounding area, visiting a museum, art gallery, a day trip to wherever... or whatever else sounds good. Skydiving, rock climbing, kayaking are all things I'd like to try.

If something more happens and I really click with someone, (and she with me) then cool. A long term relationship is ultimately what I want. I just think it has to happen naturally.

A little more information about me...

I'm divorced. I have 3 wonderful daughters. They will always come first. If you can't understand that we probably won't get along.

I like most types of music... classic rock, jazz, some country, some heavy metal...

I have a very easy going personality. I have a quiet and reserved demeanor. If you're familiar with Myers Briggs I'm a classic ISTP. I tend not to wear my heart/emotions on my sleeve so to speak.

I'm pretty low key. I've never been the "life of the party".

All that said, I am who I am and I'm happy with it.

For fun and entertainment I'm pretty easy to please. I like being outdoors. I love adventure. I like to be physically active and doing things. I clean up pretty well when I need to. I like doing most things, but I'm not big on bars and clubs. If you have to drink to have fun we probably enjoy each other's company very much.

I have a good career, a good education. I try to live by the golden rule. I'm very generous with the things I have in life. I value my friends and will do almost anything to help them.

I work in IT. I recently began a masters program. I'm sort of a nerd/geek. I like technology. I can get lost in a video game for hours if I let myself. (I don't let myself very often). I can also get lost in a good book for hours (though I haven't let myself do that for a while either). I like to go for long bike rides to think, and just enjoy nature.
