I'm a writer and university educator looking for someone smart, passionate, and fun to hang out with. I hate to just list a bunch of descriptive phrases, but this *is* a description, right? So here goes: I'm smart, sensitive, bookish, creative, a fan of art, musical -- I play guitar (badly) and love music of all kinds, from Czech punk to Arabic chants -- techy, geeky, working hard on my absent-minded professor routine (if only I had a jacket with elbow patches...), quite fond of movies (from _Wings of Desire_ to the latest superhero flick), literate, well-spoken, politically liberal (waaaay liberal), older than I look, and interested in just about everything from history and culture to Linux and tattoos (though I don't have any).

Here's what I'm not: athletic (though I do like hiking, when I can get away), selfish, greedy, out to get mine and screw the rest, overly concerned about my car, free of neuroses, interested in sports, disrespectful, sexist, racist, apolitical, anti-intellectual, dispassionate, prudish, or out to play games.

I can be a great friend, a lover, or a lifelong partner -- and maybe all three. But first, I'm just interested in spending time with someone with ideas, someone who is passionate about creating something whether its a book or a business or a better world.

How about Indian food and a stroll through First Friday? Or a drive out to Valley of Fire? Though maybe it's better to leave the "hiking in a remote location with no cell phone reception" until there's a little trust built up, eh? In the end, I'm super-flexible -- I just want to spend some time talking about what makes us passionate!
