One of the most important things in a relationship to me, besides basic respect and communication, is compatibilty...being with someone who shares similar interests and who can relate to your background. I'm a 32 year old city girl from the north, of Caribbean descent, living in South Florida, and I crave that rhythm and spice that others from the same/similar areas would know. Since you guys don't like long profiles, here's the "short" of it:

About me: Humble, down-to-earth, practical, educated, witty, yet straight-forward kind of woman. A friend and lover for life if you treat me with the same respect in return. An old soul that's young at heart. I love to laugh, but also know when it's time to be serious. I am very independent and know how to take care of my responsibilties, but I also enjoy having a special someone to share life with, who has the same morals and values. Turnoffs: People who lack some sense and smarts, can't carry a conversation, are shallow and not open to trying/accepting different things, and only into looks/material posessions.

Interests/Hobbies: Driving and discovering new places, traveling, DANCING, listening to most kinds of music (pretty much everything except heavy metal, country, hard-core rap, classical), dining, performing arts, museums, movies, comedy clubs, bowling, miniature golf, amusement parks/fairs, interacting with nature, biking/walking, relaxing at the beach...I think you get the picture. I also know how to appreciate a nice night in from time to time, enjoying a good movie, good tv shows, and perhaps making dinner. I'm an animal lover and have a cat, and we're a package deal. ;)

Looking for: Someone who is educated and mature (educated meaning at least have made something of yourself after high school...I know not everyone is college material). Someone who is not into lies/playing games, who is commited and looking for something serious in return. Someone who does not feel threatened by a strong, independent woman and who is secure and confident with themselves, but not arrogant. Someone who recognizes that being machisto is not a turn on and who does not have issues with jealousy. Someone with a good/tasteful sense of humor, who can see the brighter things in life. Someone who will eventually be a best friend and who I will be able to confide in about anything.

Drinks and/or dinner at a nice place is appropriate...as long as the atmosphere is not too noisy, so that you can actually talk and get to know each other. Possibly a walk on the beach afterward...depending on how the first part of the date goes. =)
