The woman I hope to meet will be intelligent, thoughtful, and enjoy the delight of life simply for the joy that it has to offer. Friends describe me as smart, entertaining, and caring. I love the outdoors for skiing, playing beach volleyball, and camping, although one wouldn’t call me a particularly strong athlete. I’m well-read, more the classics than contemporary works. Shakespeare is such a delight in virtually any form. I enjoy people, parties, any type of gathering with laughter and joy. Sharing good food with good company is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Cooking is something I’ve done since I was a kid, one legacy of an Italian upbringing, and I’m quite comfortable in a kitchen. As is much of life, cooking is most enjoyable as a shared experience.

I love to travel, and have been to Costa Rica, Italy, Hawaii and NYC (to visit family) in the last three or four years. Weekend getaways are such a great escape.

I enjoy movies, especially those from the 30’s and 40’s. My favorite genre is the romantic comedy. Movies such as “His Girl Friday,” “The Lady Eve,” and “The Philadelphia Story” are such works of art, and “Annie Hall” will always hold me in awe, partially since it was filmed largely in the Manhattan neighborhood where I grew up.

The basics I’m seeking are straightforward: educated, fun-loving, fairly social, and politically liberal to moderate. The rest that leads to a relationship, as we know so well, is made magical by its total unpredictability.

Over dinner seems to be the best place to just sit and talk and get to know each other, possibly at a restaurant that you have been curious to try, possibly at a favorite of mine. Dancing is always a nice option after dinner, since it will give us time and opportunity to see another side of each other. Movies never seem quite right on a first date since it entails a long period of not talking to each other.
