About Me
The following is probably the best way to describe me: The older I get, the fewer stupid things I go out and do. Buuuuuuuuut, when I go out to do stupid things, I go big or go home.
To get a wee bit more in depth: My name is James, & I live in North Plainfield, though I'm in the Wayne area quite often. I'm currently a substitute teacher, as well as a baker/cook. Eventually going back to school to get my teaching certification in elementary ed. I like working with kids, so I'm thinking somewhere in the K-3 area. But, my true passion is writing. It's good to see that communications degree at work...Woo...Hoo.
I am a wealth of pop culture knowledge to know and tell. it may be a side effect of a moderately wasted youth, but I like it. I am also kind of a nerd. Not in the Pointdexter, horned-rimmed glasses and cow lick way, but in the occasionally (read often) goofy, knows a stupid amount of pop culture way...not like a socially embarrassing way. And I believe in using healthy doses of sarcasm and levity, because sweating the small stuff can't possibly be healthy for you.
This is the quick facts section: Sports: Football - Giants & Bills. Hockey - Ducks & Bruins. TV: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother, Supernatural, Castle, The Office, House, Mad Men. I'll watch anything involving Nathan Fillion, Joss Whedon, or Richard Dean Anderson. Movies: Jurassic Park & Ghostbusters. Casablanca & the Maltese Falcon. Shaun of the Dead & The Departed. For A Few Dollars More & Butch Cassidey and the Sundance Kid. Tropic Thunder & Inglorious Basterds. Basically, I am more diverse than the UN. Music: Pretty much anything from the 80's. The Killers. The Coral. Coltrane. Massive Attack. Cold War Kids. The 88. Cage the Elephant. The Black Keys. And I have a weird fascination with David Bowie...both the music and the man.
If you've gotten this far, you're a saint, and I salute you. I feel as though I should say that I like an assertive woman. This includes a woman who isn't afraid of sending the first message on this site. This does not mean that I'm a pushover, or I'm spineless, or anything like that, it's just that I have some kind of phobia about making the first move. I'll try it sometimes, but it usually goes awry.
My buddy and I are writing a musical based on the inevitable zombie apocalypse. It'll be huge. Think Miss Saigon...with more zombies and a biker gang.
And, uh, oh yeah...I am the most awesome hepcat in the world. That's right. The most awesome. Fact.
First Date
Maybe some beverages and dancing, mini-golf/driving range, having you school me in pool...you know, something fun that could wind up mildly embarrassing for me. Also, there may or may not be flowers involved. Let's cross that bridge when we come to it. Or not. Whatevs.
