If you noticed (in my profile heading) the little play on words in regards to the old movie Desperately Seeking Susan, then we’d be off to a fast start in the compatibility department. If you actually LIKED that movie, then you move to the top of my list! That particular movie probably won’t make my top ten list but one called The Big Blue is there. Do you know the connection between the two?? If you do know, then your head is probably filled with as much useless trivia about films as mine is, and again, we’re off to a great start! Music is another passion of mine and my tastes there run the gamut from bizarre to obscure, with just the right amount of today’s flavor of the month mixed in to keep up on my 15 year olds’ latest obsession. The Art of Noise, Mox, Orb, ‘til Tuesday; they all share space on my shelf with Madonna, Seal, Holly Cole, Tears For Fears and Collective Soul. Bravo if we share a liking for those in the second half of the list, truly outstanding if you’ve even heard of those in the first half – and may I congratulate you on your exquisite taste!
I’m not all movies and music. I enjoy a variety of things from the fine arts to fine dining. I have attended and enjoy live theatre and dance. I have an appreciation for all facets of the artistic world from architecture to poetry and avant-garde painting. I read voraciously and do attempt as best I can to stay current on what is happening in the world. Lest you are beginning to think I’m exclusively left hemisphere, intellectually inclined, I should mention that I majored in physical education in university and am very much still a “jock” (in the best sense of the word….)
As I mentioned in my headline, I am seriously seeking someone…. I have been married, and although the relationship ultimately didn’t succeed, it has not dissuaded me from ever considering the option again. In fact, I look forward to establishing anew, a relationship that could lead to the fulfillment of all my dreams for a “happily ever after” (the incurable romantic in me refuses to die). So I cast out my words in the hope that you (yes I’m addressing you - the one lone individual who has made it this far into my rambling!) will drop me a short note of introduction…. go on, tell me a little about yourself (I know you want to). I’m anxious to make your acquaintance.

why is honesty so hard?
why is walking your path
through life with a partner,
like a trek through an
emotional minefield wrought with
chaos and misunderstanding,
all because we are incapable of
being true to each other?
why are the barriers we build in defense
…( in defense of what? )
keeping us from attaining that which we are
truly seeking – an acceptance of who we all really are
living, breathing but wholly imperfect beings.
“but this is how I feel”
“this is what I need”
“I’m unsure”
“I’m afraid”
“… I love you”
we’ve all known how to say all these words
since childhood
we all know what they mean,
so when did they begin to represent something
so fraught with weakness and inadequacy
that we suppress their utterance to our eternal shame.

we all do it, all day long, every day, for as long as we live,
why do we lose our ability to do so
when we truly need it the most
with the people in our lives
who truly need to hear us
… truthfully?
