Wow, retired life is so much better than working! I spend a lot of time working around my house/yard, have a small mix-breed dog (which loves playing ball), and generally relax. I have spent a lot of years with a scheduled life, have no desire to instantly take up a "scheduled" retirement. I have no trouble spending a whole day doing basically nothing...maybe watching tv, doing a jigsaw puzzle, or reading a book--almost always non-fiction. Other days it seems I have a dozen things that need to be done all at once.

Find I miss that special person to laugh & share life with. However, please don't expect to be taken care of like a good 1950's type household. Partnership requires you know the location & use of all major appliances in the house. Don't mind hand holding & some public displays of affection, but don't appreciate being mauled in public. Fidelity & monogamy are very important to me if our friendship starts to develop further.

I love watching all variations of the law & order tv shows. I like crossword puzzles (though I still cheat with a help book), and jigsaw puzzles (okay, I look at the picture on the box), recently discovered codewords, don't get the fixation with suduko, though. Last read was DaVinci Code, love "bathroom reader" books. Not particularly religious, and don't care to change that....don't want to be "saved" or "fixed"; if you attend services...I have no problem with that, I just won't be joining you. I don't require a 24/7 companion, it's okay if we each have our own favorite thing to do that doesn't really appeal to the other. Sometimes people can just need "alone" time, or time with just them & their friends.

Have two children, grown, gone & fully self-sufficient--consider that a great accomplishment. Married for 24 years, happily for most of it...I liked being married and love men. No angst, anger, ranting here...there are good & bad men & women both. The trick is to find one with interests/faults you can tolerate and someone that finds your little quirks just as endearing. No one is perfect and that includes you and me. I'm short, only 5' tall and thin (100#), short hair of mixed color persuasion, & most happy in jeans & casual wear. I don't dance, and (sorry) I don't play golf, but I have been camping & hunting...although I am not the one with the gun. Use to go tent camping a lot....think I prefer a little more luxurious accomodations now...perhaps something that includes a bathroom.....

First dates are tough. Best to keep it really low key, and easy to bolt if someone gets really uncomfortable. That can happen with either person, not just women. Usually something like a coffee shop, or lunch date, strolling in a mall--watching other people strolling in the mall. Could involve 2 hours of sharing, or maybe not even finishing that first cup. That's okay, not everyone is going to be a good fit; but, it can be fun to just make a new friend.
