Get busy living or get busy dying.

I moved from Vancouver a couple of years ago to get away from the big city. It was probably the best thing that I've ever done. Most of my family and friends are still there so I go back every month or so. Usually I can't wait to get back to Nanaimo.

I love to travel. Every year I try to take a nice vacation and explore. I've always felt that to truly understand myself and this world, I need to know what is out there, outside of my comfort zone. I've been Vegas a few times, over a dozen cities in Europe, a few in Asia, backpacked through Australia and New Zealand and for the last few years, traveled to Cuba. Hopefully next year I'll see India. I was born in Fiji so I'd like to go there soon.

I'm self employed and have accomplished most of what I've set out to do at this point. I used to worry about material things but those things aren't that important to me any more. I have a house, a career, great friends and family. Really, the only thing left for me to do is to buy a nice beach house and find someone to share my time with. I suppose I can live without the beach house. :)

I'm pretty low key, down to earth and non-judgmental. My life is in constant balance. I'm a Libra, what can I say? I spent my early years learning what was most important to me and working towards that. I know where I fit within the bigger picture and am continuously striving towards that. Lately, I've been thinking about the environment and living a lifestyle that is better for the planet. I'm by no means an activist but I know that giving to this planet and the people in it, fits in somewhere. I've recently started a small (very small) charity for a neighborhood in Havana, Cuba. I'm planning a trip this fall to bring donations and see if I (we) can make a difference. I don't expect to change the world but I hope to make things a little more bearable for those in need. One of my favorite quotes is by Margaret Mead. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

What else interests me? Art, architecture, photography, different cultures, cooking, tattoos, mixed martial arts, Canucks. I'd like to learn Spanish and play the guitar. A good friend just got me interested in tea so I'm learning about that. I spent a good part of this summer working on my garden but there's still a lot more work to do.

I have a fairly eclectic taste in music although most of the songs on the radio don't interest me. Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Bob Marley, old school rock, Cuban son, jazz, and ambient is what I listen to.

I'd like to meet someone who has a few of these qualities: intelligent, witty, sarcastic, low-maintenance, down to earth, confident, not afraid to go after what she wants, a little goofy and independent. I need someone who I can have a mental, emotional and physical connection with. Someone who has more to talk about than celebrity gossip, shopping or the weather.

Something really casual would be nice. I'd rather spend more time conversing and getting to know one another than doing an activity.
