I'm just an ordinary kind of person who is looking to meet new friends. Of course ideally I'd find someone for the 'happily ever after' but I'm not in any rush. I'm not particularly good looking but I'm not ugly enough to scare small children either.

I'm Australian and I moved to Tokyo in July 2008 after nearly 5 years in China. I've also spent time living the Singapore and the UK as well as 6 months traveling in Africa. I think it would be fair to say that I enjoy travel, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people!

I enjoy doing all kinds of things but tend to go a little stir crazy if I don't get out of the city often enough. One of the things I enjoy most about Tokyo is that it is fairly easy to get out for a day's hiking or a weekend's camping.

Please don't waste time messaging me in text speak or with some corny idea about how incredibly attractive you find me. I won't reply. If however you take the time to at least attempt a sentence or two of sensible English I will at least do you the courtesy of a return message.

My favourite types of people are those who are passionate about something. It doesn't have to be something that I'm particularly interested in but I love to learn about new things from people who are really into them. I myself am passionate about books (and I love discussing them), travel and social justice. I also really enjoy camping when I get the chance.

I'm a high school teacher.

To me a first 'date' isn't actually a date at all. It is a meeting to see if we are interested in dating, or in being friends. So something simple and not too long is best. Meet for a drink or a coffee. If we hit it off we can make more interesting plans for the next meeting.

What I'd love to meet from this site are new friends that I can explore Tokyo with (of course I'm also open to the possibility of gaining more than a friend). I'm also always looking for people to play tennis with so if you are interested in that send me a message.
