About Me
Life's journey has taken me places I didn't anticipate, and so far, it's been an interesting road. I've been a musician literally since before I could walk - classically-trained pianist and violinist, with a left-turn somewhere into singing and fiddling for 10 years in a celtic band, and learning a few other instruments to noodle around on. Educated, a devoted mother, midwife, equestrian, artist and activist also describe me. So do words like opinionated, tenacious, and persistent. Circumstances in life dictated I make a complete leap of faith, so...after 30 years in Texas, I walked away from everything I'd established there and brought us to the hills of Missouri at the end of 2007. It's been an incredible ride - new life, new job, new friends, new church, finding places to plug in as a musician, as well as striking out in completely new directions...but the risk was absolutely worth it!
My time away from the 9-5 is spent running herd on critters both 4-legged (horses, cats, dogs, and a rat named Tooie - don't ask!) and 2-legged (children), working on home improvement projects, rebuilding a glass/jewelry studio and midwifery practice, and either singing or playing for various events. I am active in music, playing and singing for a local church when asked, as well as volunteering for a few choice organizations and performing for renaissance faires across the country (including our own St. Louis Renaissance Faire).
I'm a strong woman, emotionally, mentally, physically, and am passionate about what - and who - I believe in, holding tight to my celtic roots and spiritual faith. I don't need to be rescued nor do I wish to rescue someone else, but I desire someone with the strength of character and mind who can provide the occasional respite and enjoy both the public lady and the private woman I keep inside.
Although a double entendre, both meanings are meant in my opening line. If you can't be honest, you won't get far with me. If you play games, play elsewhere. I play as hard as I work (when I get the chance!), and love my fun, but I'm too old for high school machinations. As a talented, intelligent, creative female, I enjoy the company of someone that can challenge my intellect and make me laugh - including at myself. Both widowed and divorced, I realize that anyone over the age of 15 has some sort of baggage whether they care to admit it or not - it's all in how you choose to carry it or allow it to carry you that determines where you go in life.
As far as what I'm looking for? A smile that goes to your eyes will make me look twice... Make me laugh, and you've got my attention. Dating is a prelude to something long-term...or not...but you've got to start somewhere to get anywhere down the road!
First Date
First date? That depends on the people involved. A drink and good live music somewhere, a quiet dinner, lunch during the workday, wandering the zoo or Botanical gardens...it all depends on what we'd choose to do together and when. I'm always open for things I haven't done, as long as they're legal!
How about we get past that first meeting, though? That's what I think determines a first date.
