About Me
I'm a traditional Midwestern guy who lived in Wisconsin for 23 years until I went to live in Europe. Did eight months in Germany through my university as an exchange student taking classes at a German university, then did 8 months in Austria teaching English at a school near Salzburg in the Austria Alps through the Fulbright Commission. That was a very unique and amazing experience. Came back after 16 months without money, car or place to live. I woke on the beach in Naples, FL, dusted myself off, brushed my teeth in a Burger King bathroom and just decided to live there. Ended up getting a job and Florida residency for grad school.
Oh yeah, I don't really drink wine. There is a lot of "I love good wine" on here. I am 100% Wisconsin (The Packers are a HUGE deal). I like beer and cheese. My grandfather worked at the Schlitz brewery in Milwaukee for 30 years and we lived across the street from some people who owned a small cheese factory. (We did not get a lifetime supply of Schlitz, that beer is awful, btw.)
I've tried to life full of adventure and fulfillment. I've lived in Germany, Austria, and New Zealand. Was an English teacher in the Peace Corps in Ukraine. When I lived in Wisconsin, I went to Mardi Gras 5 years in a row. Drove 16 hours, partied for 3 straight days, then drove 16 hours back and was back in class on Monday. Have been to Oktoberfest in Munich, the Jerry Springer Show in Chicago back in 1994, you name it. Spent 3 months backpacking through Australia, learned to speak German fluently and got my Master's degree from Florida State in International Affairs in December 2006. Packed up what few possessions I had and drove up to DC without a job or knowing anyone. Somehow I've managed to make it work.
I've grown to love health and fitness. The ability to change your body through discipline and hard work really is empowering. Therefore, I don't do happy hour. After work is for the gym and that's non-negotiable.
I come from a good family and my parents are still married (38 years). I am Irish and Russian and have blue eyes. So I'm pale as hell and there is nothing I can do about it. If you want tan children, please move on(I actually had someone say something like that to me once). I have a brother who is 36 and my little sister is 25. I was almost 10 when she was born, so she is technically my "little" sister. I would like to meet someone to do things with like hold hands at the mall, go to dinner, take walks in the park and drink a single milkshake out of a glass with two straws at Johnny Rockets. Basically things that would make single people want to barf. I once saw a profile on here that said, "I can usually be found dining in fine restaurants" and "usually only date Italian men." Yeah, well I can usually be found dining at Chili's and drinking a cold PBR. Gimme a break.
I really do love to travel. I hit 24 countries in 6 years and filled up 75% of my passport. I did this by not dining in fine restaurants and only dating Italian m....well, whatever.
Drop me a line if you want to chit-chat! Especially if you like scuba diving, bungy jumping, white water rafting, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, crotch rockets and fast cars.
PS- Pics of you sticking out your tongue or flipping off the camera are NOT attractive!
