About Me
Okay, time for a new description. After a bit of dabbling on this site, I find myself frustrated with short descriptions, and one-liner emails. I seems to me the only way this can work if with lots of honesty. Otherwise, we all just waste a lot of time! So, here goes!

I'm a transplanted west-coaster, loving this city of culture, grit, opportunities and frost. Don't get out to explore nearly enough, but I stay sane with daily walks on the 'mountain' with my border collie, and spend most of my time setting up my new life. Aka making more money for less work, albeit work that I love.

Have a regular yoga and sporadic meditation practice. Can't see this ever stopping, they both feed my life. Ditto regular forays into contact improv, a fun, athletic, if a bit strange to the uninitiated, dance form.

I do my best to stay present, to enjoy life, to learn from its challenges. I believe the way we're living on this planet is unsustainable, and a big change is coming. The only way we'll get through it is through taking care of each other. I aspire to creating some site-specific dance/theatre performance to spread info on environmental issues.

Simplifying my life is important to me, although my concurrent careers as a dancer and a yogi are hard to manage timewise. Even so, I can't let go of either. Though I"m always up early to practice yoga, there are often fun late night activities that make it difficult to get enough sleep. I'm learning to nap.

I love language, am presently engaged in learning french. I dabble a bit in writing, and would like to do more. I have always read voraciously.. I rarely don't finish a book - perhaps my endless optimism keeps me hoping that even if it's bad, it'll get better eventually. The book I recommend to everyone currently is 'Eat, Pray, Love'.

Music is a big part of my life, though lately I hit the 'random' button a little to frequently. I mss the days of one cd at a time. I have an ipod, but for music storage only. I'm appalled at how many people are permanently distracted by ipods and cellphones in their ears. My listening selection is eclectic, from indy to ska, jazz to slam poetry. I find the oldies radio thing annoying (80's music was already bad in the eighties.. ) and listen mostly to CBC. I sing in an avante-garde feminist choir, and do four-part harmonies with my family at christmas. Song lyrics stay in my head, in the same way phone numbers do.

Though I'm physically active, I'm not so into sports. Not that I mind playing them, but I think we spend too much time and money on watching other people have all the fun. I prefer to get out on my bike, walk in the forest, to go swimming or skiing. I've biked around London (Eng, not Ontario), Toronto, Vancouver, and across Europe. I'd love to do another bike tour.

There hasn't been a TV in my life since I moved out of my parents' place. I've also been mostly vegetarian since then, tho I still eat a bit of fish, since soon there won't be any left. I love to cook and eat delicious, healthy food, tho without anyone to cook for I do things like eating red peppers whole or uncooked veggie burgers. I LOVE to go out for dinner - there are so many interesting restaurants to explore in this city.

I love animals and kids. I'm not yet a mother, but would like to be. I really enjoy training my dog, and would like to have another, perhaps a cat or two. I have a lot of love to give.

Nothing much fazes me. I believe that it isn't what happens that stresses us, but how we react to it. I'm very easy-going, willing to go with the flow, and try to follow my intuition in making decisions.

I enjoy life, I laugh a lot. Perhaps sometimes too much, when it might be more appropriate to ask an incisive question. I am happy with my own company, but love to have someone to share life's joys and learning with.

The right guy for me needs to be compassionate, intelligent, and fun. Someone who shares a good smattering of the interests above. Very important to me, is a shared sense of physicality, the masculine counterpart to my tall, broadshouldered, active self.

Things that I strive for that I would like to be important in a partner are empathy, fairness, lack of judgement, easygoing-ness(?) and openmindedness. My favourite saying lately is 'Be the change you wish to see in the world.'

I"d like to find someone to help me deal with the vermi-composter, to travel with, to mutually inspire and care for, to laugh with, cry with.. okay, it's starting to turn into one of those posts.. but I'm sure you get the idea.

First Date
Something that give us an opportunity to talk, to get to know each other a bit. I'd rather skip the online chatting, get straight to talking on the phone, and arrange a mutually acceptable meeting.
