About Me
I've led a life less ordinary for over three decades now, and even as I kid I knew I was the black sheep of the family, along with the classroom... and perhaps the entire neighborhood. I had and still have a very smart mouth, but I [almost] always use my powers for good.

Raised in a strict Catholic upbringing, I would've surely perished if it weren't for outside influences like inappropriate music and cable TV. Regardless of the outcome, I didn't grow up trying to be rebellious... it was more like a side effect of environmental factors. Learning the hard way that San Diego wasn't the city for me, I broke free and moved to LA just over six years ago: "Just another freak... in the freak kingdom."

Fast forward to present day and I'm far more comfortable in my day to day life, one might even deem me worthy of the definition "laid back." Still a bit abrasive sometimes, but I'm told it can be quite amusing to watch unfold. I've been called a character, a cynic, clever, an iconoclast, sarcastic, stubborn, and a born critic... and I've been called far worse. It's never stopped me from trying to explain my view on things, and I tend to find kinship with liberal, open-minded people over traditional and conservative types. The same goes for me romantically, although the girl on my arm won't have to deal with anything beyond some playful debating as long as she understands the rest of the world is fair game.

You only live once, and I think my philosophy is best described as working towards rich experiences over working for riches alone. That being said, there are times I work my ass off... usually to fund the next rich experience.

Despite what my "Chemistry" answers might tell you, I'm not all that interested in settling down or starting a family. I consider many of my friends my family, and the family you choose is usually far better screened than the one you get.

Culture defines us, and that includes pop culture... below is a [not so] short list of my favorites:

Music:
Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Audioslave, Bad Religion, Biggie Smalls [is the illest!], James Brown, Black Sabbath (...and Heaven and Hell), Johnny Cash, John Coltrane, Chris Cornell, The Creepy Creeps, DangerDoom, Dethklok (They're brutal!), Di(k Dale, Disturbed, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Hives, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Iron Maiden, The Killers, Mars Volta, MC Chris, Metallica, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, Charlie Parker, Parliament Funkadelic, Silversun Pickups, Soundgarden, System Of A Down, The Strokes, Art Tatum, Thin Lizzy, [Classic] Van Halen, The Velvet Underground, The Vines, The Who, The White Stripes, Wolfmother, Wu Tang Clan .. ...now I'll bet you're just dying to tell me who I forgot to put there. Aren't you?

Movies:
Comedy - American Psycho, The Big Lebowski, Blazing Saddles, Clerks, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Jerk, Johnny Dangerously, I [Heart] Huckabees, Raising Arizona, Rushmore, Simon, Thank You For Smoking

Drama - The Big Sleep, No Country For Old Men, Laurence of Arabia, Rounders, Shade, Singles (a MUST SEE for people here), The Seventh Seal, The World's Fastest Indian, Zorba the Greek

Action - Conan The Barbarian, Crank, Death Race 2000, Enter The Dragon, Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Highlander, Iron Man, The Matrix, Red Dawn, Superman I &; II, The Warriors, X-Men I & II

Horror - 28 Days Later, Army Of Darkness, Carrie, Constantine, Interview With The Vampire, Near Dark, The Serpent and the Rainbow

TV: Adult Swim's less questionable programming, Breaking Bad, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Dexter, Lost, Heroes, House, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Office, The Root of All Evil, The Sarah Silverman Show, Southland, Twilight Zone re-runs, The Unusuals, and any other classic gems that cable or networks allow to slip through.

Authors: Rick Bass, T. Coraghessan Boyle, Ray Bradbury, Charles Bukowski, Ernest Hemingway, Robert E. Howard, R.A. Salvatore, Hunter S. Thompson

First Date
First dates feel more like interviews sometimes so I try to make it a casual interview at the very least. The same goes for first meetings of any kind.

Generally I'm not into frequenting at loud places unless it's a concert, occasionally a loud bar can be fun, but neither are the best places to talk one on one. The important thing is having a good time and getting to know each other. Even if you're not the right match for me (or vice-versa) maybe there's someone we know that might make a better fit and maybe we'll enjoy having someone so different occupy a bit of our time after the date's over. Personally speaking, I've had a first date or two that I'm still great friends with today.

This is actually a misleading question, like one of those open-ended philosophy essay types you got in college... because every girl is different. If I'm going out with you it's because there's something about you I like, so we'll probably do something you like... then you'll like me. It's a pretty simple equation and I'm not sure why the moderators here at PlentyOfFish.com haven't caught on and deleted this question from the profile... and why don't they use double spacing or more fonts?!?
